Gymnastics at Newcroft has been enjoyed by all year groups. The pupils love the challenge of the vault, mastering forward and backward rolls, developing the bunny hop into a cartwheel. Gymnastics is one of the most challenging sport that Newcroft take part in. The pupils have to be so disciplined and in control.
Great skills were shown at this years competitions. Our Gymnastic Challenge Squad won their competition and will go on to compete in the Leicestershire School Games held at Oakham on March 13th.
Key Steps 1 and 2, which are for years 1,2,3 and 4 came third in their competition they received bronze medals. For the little ones this was their first time representing Newcroft and they did brilliantly.
Key Steps 3, which is for year 5 and 6 was a very tough competition, our pupils were competing against gymnasts that train three times a week. Our year six squad did a fantastic job, and Newcroft is very proud of them.
All four squads have been giving up their lunch time in order to practice their two routines and the vault, since returning to school after the Christmas break.
We also have to say a big thank you to three year six girls who have given up their time to help coach the younger pupils, great team work Newcroft!
Thank you to each one for giving up their time for Newcroft.
