At Newcroft, we are committed to providing small group and some 1:1 tuition sessions after school for pupils who are falling behind, are SEND, or are in receipt of pupil premium funding.
Our journey with tuition began with great success to help pupils 'catch up' on missed learning, post Covid school closures. We realised the huge benefits (both academic and to pupils' wellbeing and perception of some subjects) of providing high quality extra time with teachers and teaching assistants. We have been providing tuition to around 100 pupils each term ever since.
Tuition is delivered by teachers and teaching assistants, supported in the planning process by the child's class teacher, to ensure that the tuition is targeted at the area of the curriculum the pupil needs.
We invite pupils based on their teacher assessment and test data, which identifies those who need the most support. Tuition groups are reassessed termly. Tuition is free of charge to parents, funded by the School's Recovery Premium and funding from the school budget.
