Curriculum

This half term's topic is 'Ouch! Zap! Ping!' and is all about electricity and the inventor Thomas Edison. We will be reading 'Thomas Edison Biography' by Margaret Frith. This informative non-fiction text is about Thomas' early years, his inventions and how he became famous. In this topic,  the children will create their own circuits, learn about conductors and insulators and conduct their own test switches. Year 4 will also be creating their own lightning art inspired by Walter De Maria.

PE days

We ask that parents ensure that PE kits are in school all week and sent home as required for washing throughout the term and at the end of every half term. A reminder that as the weather gets cooler, we ask that parents send their child with a suitable jumper and pair of PE outdoor shoes - which differ to their normal outdoor shoes.

PE days for Mrs Atkinson's class are Monday and Friday and for Mrs Hawksworth's class are on Monday and Thursday.

Homework

As per to our school's homework policy, we set homework weekly. This is set every Monday and due on the following Monday.

Each week, pupils will have a Mathematics or English activity to complete, alongside their regular practise of spellings, reading and times tables. We very much appreciate your support with providing opportunities to consolidate and practise your child's learning at home.
