In English, we will use 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch' as our inspiration and then we will be focusing on the features of instructional writing and then writing our own instructions to make a sandwich. This links nicely with Computing, where we use technology to be 'TV Chefs' and record and edit making a sandwich.
In Geography, we will return to our work about the United Kingdom and be exploring the features of the seaside and finding out the first seaside town in the United KIngdom, looking at both the physical and human features.
In DT, we will be experimenting with how to join fabrics together, using glue, staples or safety pins. We will then design and then make our very own hand puppet. We can't wait to see the amazing designs and finished puppets!
We will also continue to work hard in phonics as we prepare for the Phonics Screening Check.
PE
Miss Brailsford’s class has PE on Tuesdays.
Mrs Lloyd's class has PE on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Please ensure that children have the correct PE kit, suitable for both indoor and outdoor activities.
This half term, children will continue to take part in our Regular Readers initiative.
We kindly remind parents that children need to read at least three times per week to qualify for the Regular Reader Treat at the end of the term. This reward celebrates those who have consistently met the reading expectation throughout the half term.
Thank you for your continued support in encouraging a love of reading at home!
The children have homework set weekly for reading and spelling. This homework is set on a Monday and will be due the following Monday. All homework will be in home school diaries and sent via WEDUC.
We encourage the children to read at least 3 times weekly, as part of our Regular Readers competition, as well as learning their weekly spellings. Weekly spellings will be tested on a Monday.
We also encourage children to play on Numbots each week to support Maths progress.
A creative task will also be set each half term, details of which will be printed on the homework sheet.
