Our Forest School

We are very excited to be launching our very own Forest School on site, in our beautiful woodland setting, from August 2025. We have formed a partnership with Little Acorns Forest School, a well established and reputable provider in our local area. Our specialist sessions, which will form part of our curriculum, will run on Fridays across the academic year, for all year groups, including our Pre School. Our EYFS curriculum (Pre School and Reception) will also engage in extra sessions throughout the year ran by their teachers. We will also be holding an after school club on a Friday after the main school day has finished. 

What is Forest School? 

Forest School encourages exploration, creativity, and problem-solving through outdoor play, while also fostering elements such as teamwork and resilience. Children will experience learning in nature, taking part in activities such as building shelters, exploring wildlife, creating art from natural materials, and much more!

Why have we chosen to run a Forest School as part of our curriculum?

The world is ever changing with technology and screens playing a larger role in children's lives both at school and at home. Our aim is to get Newcroft pupils outside and help them to get in touch with nature. This will support them in regulation and in learning in a controlled risk environment- something many no longer do in our modern world. Children will explore and develop their Character Keys such as resilience, teamwork and creativity in a non classroom setting. Our ultimate vision is to ensure that children leave Newcroft ready for the challenges of the world, and we hope that our Forest School enhances our strong and embedded curriculum.

When will my child have their sessions?

Letters will be sent well in advance of a Forest School block starting for your child's year group. We have invested in lots of resources to ensure the children keep dry and warm as Forest School runs, whatever the weather!
