Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely half-term break. We can’t believe we are already in the final half term of Year 3!
This half term, our topic is Wild Wonders, with a science focus on plants. The children will be learning all about the life cycle of a plant and exploring how plants grow and survive.
In English, the children will be writing their own poems about the life cycle of a plant, using rhyme and stanzas to create imaginative pieces of writing.
In Design and Technology, the children will be designing and building their very own mini pavilions, creating sturdy structures using a variety of resources and materials.
We are also very excited for our upcoming trip to the Botanical Gardens, where the children will bring their science learning to life through a range of engaging activities.
In Music, the children will be exploring 20th Century Music, giving them the opportunity to experience different genres such as reggae and rock and roll.
In PE, the children will be taking part in rounders and athletics. These sessions will take place outdoors, so we are looking forward to enjoying the sunshine while keeping active!
Miss Lloyd’s class has PE on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Mr Anderson’s class has PE on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Please ensure that children have the correct PE kit, suitable for both indoor and outdoor activities.
This half term, children will continue to take part in our Regular Readers initiative.
We kindly remind parents that children need to read at least three times per week to qualify for the Regular Reader Treat at the end of the term. This reward celebrates those who have consistently met the reading expectation throughout the half term.
Thank you for your continued support in encouraging a love of reading at home!
Thank you for supporting your children to complete their 3D models of a plant or flower. They were excellent!
The children will continue to receive weekly spellings on Mondays and tested on the following Monday. These spellings are taught in school during that week by the class teacher.
Children need to practise games on Times Table Rockstars three times a week. The children's login information can be found inside their diary.
