Welcome back to Summer 1!
We hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable Easter break.
This half term, Year 3 will be continuing our Pharaoh’s Fate unit and beginning an exciting new topic called Wild Wonders. In English, the children will explore the texts The Boy Who Stole Pharaoh’s Lunch and James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl. Inspired by these, they will be writing instructions on how to mummify an Egyptian body, as well as creating letters and poetry. Miss Lloyd and Mr Anderson can’t wait to see the fantastic writing they produce.
In PE, the children will be developing their skills in cricket and tennis, focusing on key techniques such as batting, throwing, catching and improving their coordination and control. In French, the class will begin the Dans Ma Ville unit, where they will learn to speak, read and write about different places in a French town.
In Music, the children will have the opportunity to learn how to play the ocarina. They will begin to play simple songs and develop confidence in reading and performing notes. In History and Geography, they will continue their learning about Ancient Egypt, including the importance of the River Nile and the greatest achievements of this fascinating civilisation.
What an exciting half term ahead! We can’t wait to see all the wonderful work the children will produce!
Miss Lloyd’s class has PE on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Mr Anderson’s class has PE on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Please ensure that children have the correct PE kit, suitable for both indoor and outdoor activities.
