Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Values

SMSC stands for spiritual, moral, social and cultural values. These values are central to the work we do at Newcroft; the personal development of pupils’ values plays a significant part in their ability to learn and achieve. Diversity is celebrated, strong partnerships built and everyone is treated as a unique individual. We promote an appreciation of the richness of the cultures in both the UK and the wider world.

At Newcroft Primary Academy we aim to provide the following:

  • A stimulating experienced based curriculum that is meaningful, appropriate and relevant, to our students enabling them to maintain progress and reach their full potential
  • A safe and secure learning environment
  • A consistent approach to the delivery of SMSC development through the curriculum and the overall life of the school
  • Close liaison and working partnerships with parents/carers and other service providers
  • Promote expected behaviour, treating everyone as unique and valuable individuals and show respect for students and their families.

Opportunities are created for the development of SMSC through the curriculum in both subject areas and in other wider school opportunities:

  • Our British Values curriculum
  • Our Religious Education curriculum

  • Our 'Everyone Belongs' curriculum

  • Educational trips and visits
  • Pupil voice (the School Council, Mental Health Ambassadors, Pupil Ambassadors and the wider pupil voice)
  • Themed days (fund raising, cultural experiences and immersion days)
  • Guests, visitors and special events
  • British values of democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs are embedded within our curriculum.
