Autumn Term 1 2026

We will begin the school year with our topic 'Olympus Odyssey', learning all about life in Ancient Greece across a range of subjects. 

In English, our text is 'Who Let The Gods Out?' by Maz Evans. The children will be learning about and then writing a non-chronological report, persuasive brochure and myth.

In Maths, the children will be expanding on their knowledge of place value and the four operations.

In the wider curriculum, the children will broaden their knowledge in a range of subjects. Specifically, they will make Ancient Greek Pottery in Art, learn about the greatest achievements of the Ancient Greeks in History and explore animals and life cycles in Science. 

PE 

Miss Porter's PE days are Thursday and Friday.

Mr Akiens' PE days are Wednesday and Thursday.

Please ensure that your child's PE kid remains in school throughout the week.

Homework

All homework is set on a Monday and will be due the following Monday.

The children have homework set weekly, in either English and mathematics.

We also encourage the children to read three times weekly, as part of our Regular Readers competition.

Spellings are also given out weekly, on a Monday, and will be tested on the following Monday; the spelling rule linked to the weekly spellings is taught by the class teacher.

The children also need to play on TTRS each week as part of their homework.
